Legal Assistant
Dayaan Khokhar supports the attorneys and legal staff at Sand Law by helping to manage case organization, client communication, scheduling, and day-to-day support tasks that keep cases moving efficiently. His impressive work ethic and research background make a big difference in the clients’ experience, even if they don’t directly see his role in the process.
Professional Background
Dayaan is working at Sand Law as a Legal Assistant while preparing to start law school in 2027. He has an impressive academic record, and it’s clear that he has a love for helping others through the legal system and through his work as a writer.
Before joining Sand Law, Dayaan worked as a Legal Intern with LegalCORPS, a nonprofit that provides free legal assistance to low-income entrepreneurs, small businesses, and other low-revenue nonprofit organizations. At LegalCORPS, he helped with intake, communications, scheduling, and organizing consultations. He also helped develop new protocols for interns to improve efficiency in the organization.
At the University of St. Thomas, Dayaan worked as a Legal Researcher. He also worked independently on a research project looking into antitrust activity and regulation in the technology sector. His independent research explored important concerns about policy enforcement and consumer protection related to monopolies, as well as potential solutions to reduce consumer exploitation.
Dayaan is also a contributing writer for the King Street Journal and appears on the publication’s podcast to discuss his work. King Street Journal focuses on business, trade, and regulation in North America, South Asia, and the Middle East/North Africa region.
Dayaan discovered his passion for a career in law through his research on corporate overreach and protecting individuals from negligence and unfair treatment.
In Fall 2027, Dayaan plans to continue his legal education at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
“My goals is for the education I have gained through my extensive legal research and volunteering guides me toward being the kind of attorney I hope to be.”
Personal Life & Roots
Dayaan grew up in the United Arab Emirates before moving to Minnesota with his family. He now considers the Twin Cities his home, where he says the Minnesotan community was welcoming and helped his family to settle in.
Outside of work, Dayaan enjoys staying active, including calisthenics, MMA training, cycling, and running. He also enjoys reading nonfiction, writing, 3D printing, mechanical engineering projects, video games, and reviewing movies.
